Summer 2025 1st half

This half term we are learning all about Nature and a few celebrations. 

 

We will start with making our own bird nests using a range of different materials. We will look at different pictures and videos of how birds make their nests what happens with the eggs in them. We will look outside in the trees to see if we can find any nests and compare them, discuss what birds make nests high up and which are lower on the ground. We will discuss compare and measure the different sizes of the birds in their nests.

 

We will be creating the England flag for St George's Day and the children will watch videos and be encournaged to learn the story George and the Dragon.

 

Bark rubbing- The children will be going outside in the garden using chalks and crayons to rub on their paper to create bark markings. They can look at the different types of trees and compare them, learning about how important to us they on on Earth and what they do to help us.

 

VE DAY- The children will be painting by numbers to create the United Kingdom Flag, and leanring about the soliders that died in the war.

 

 

Bird Feeders - The children wll be using natrual ingredients to make their own bird feeders to hang on the trees outside, if a child does not have access to a garden they can hang it on our garden with their friends. We will look at which birds like different foods, and what birds we can see outside and compare them.

 

Sun Flowers - This week the children will plant their own sunflower seeds. We have a a competitom each year, the child that grows their sunflower the biggest will win a prize before we break up for summer. The children can learn about the different flowers they can see outside, and if they have any in their garden. They can talk about their experiences and how they help flowers grow.
